Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee grower from Quindío, Colombia. He and his wife, Luz Helena Salazar, have two sons, Carlos and Felipe Arcila, who went on to become the co-founders of Cofinet.

Jairo began his career at Racafé, one of Colombia’s largest coffee exporters, where he worked as a mill manager. He remained with the company for more than 40 years, gaining extensive experience in coffee processing and quality, before retiring in 2019.

In 1987, Jairo purchased his first coffee farm, Finca La Esmeralda, where he planted his first Caturra lot. At the time, he was able to produce coffee while continuing to work full-time at Racafé, allowing him to steadily reinvest his savings into additional farmland. Over the years, he acquired five more farms: Villarazo, Mazatlán, Santa Mónica, Maracay, and Buenos Aires.

In 2014, Jairo leased his brother’s farm, Finca Castellón, where he planted Gesha. At the time, he was one of only two farmers in the region growing the variety. Following the success of his first Gesha harvest, Jairo expanded his focus to other exotic varieties, including Pink Bourbon and Tabi, which he planted at Finca Villarazo. He has also recently planted 3,000 Java trees.

Jairo has been involved with Cofinet since its beginning, working closely with his sons and drawing on their expertise in cherry selection, sorting, and processing. Together, they have developed innovative processing methods that allow Jairo to showcase exceptional coffees and the unique profiles of the Quindío region.

Today, Jairo employs around 50 people during harvest season. His decades of experience—from coffee farming and milling to experimenting with new varieties and processing techniques—have helped him become one of the region’s most innovative producers.

This coffee has undergone a unique fermentation process- 72 hours with rose petals to enhance the florality of the cup. Paired with the Pink Bourbon variety, this coffee is unique, juicy, floral and delicate.
